The Role: We are looking for a Senior Flood Risk Design Engineer to work on a variety of projects as part of an established infrastructure team. The role will predominantly be involved in flood risks associated with land development for large residential sites but there will be opportunity to work on a variety of different projects sites, including industrial, commercial, public and retail building developments. There will also be an opportunity to work on drawings design development within the team. Academic Requirements: We are looking for our candidate to have a Master’s Degree or Bachelors in Civil Engineering (or Equivalent) and be Chartered or working towards. Applications will also be considered from experienced applicants who have alternative academic backgrounds such as Geotechnical /Geo-Environmental Water Engineering or Environmental Science.
Job Responsibilities/Candidate Ability:
The ability to provide feasibility and design advice to a range of clients on land use planning, namely flood risk assessments and surface and foul water drainage design.
The ability undertake to Flood Risk Assessments for Flood Zones 1, 2 and 3; Surface Water Management Plans, Drainage Strategies, and SuDS Statements; and flood estimation using ReFH and WINFAP.
The ability to provide satisfactory resolution to engineering issues identified during planning applications to support clients in gaining the necessary approvals.
Experience of implementing the National Planning Policy Framework, Building Regulations, The Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations and other development related guidance and standards in your work.
Communicating with local authorities, water companies and the Environment Agency,
A knowledge and understanding of the design of drainage and road infrastructure for residential and commercial developments.
A knowledge of software packages such as AutoCAD, MicroDrainage, PDS and ReFH
Preparation and review of drawings and detailing of the systems designed,
Report writing and preparation of design quotes,
The supervision and mentoring of a graduate including checking and signing off of work,
The coordination of work with engineers of other disciplines,
Attending meetings and communicating with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them
Project management with good commercial and financial awareness of project costings.
