Norfolk Park Phase 8, Housing Development

Site 8 is one of several sites in the Norfolk Park area of Sheffield where tower blocks from the 1960's have been demolished and are now being redeveloped. There are to be 97 dwellings on this phase, in a mixture of social and privately-owned housing, consisting of 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom houses and four-storey apartment blocks.

Eastwood and Partners were appointed by Gleeson Regeneration Ltd to provide civil and structural engineering advice. We detailed the on-site drainage and new road infrastructure for adoption by Yorkshire Water and Sheffield City Council under section 104 and section 38 Agreements. We designed the main building structures of each house and apartment and checked the specialist contractor's proposals for concrete floors, lintels, staircases, roof trusses, timber floors and Juliet balconies.

Rather than using standard designs, the houses have special features such as cedar -clad elevations, shallow-pitched roofs with steel frameworks and stone spandrel panels. The site slopes very steeply and has extensive retaining walls of masonry, reinforced concrete and filled gabions.
