The Altrincham Waste Water Treatment Works Storm Tanks Scheme has been constructed for United Utilities by North Midland Construction as an addition to an existing sewage treatment works. E&P have undertaken the civil engineering design for the project, based on a notional design prepared by the Client.
The tanks are 42 metres diameter and will be used for the temporary storage of excess storm water to a depth of 9 metres. The project also includes a number of other large civil engineering structures and forms part of a programme of environmental improvements to existing sewer overflows, to deal with existing Unsatisfactory Intermittent Discharges (UIDs).
