Eastwood & Partners are currently completing the entire engineering design package for the Miller Homes' development at Yarn Street, in Leeds.
This comprises 280 units adjacent to the River Aire and Aire and Calder Canal. We have designed the roads and drainage (including attenuation and SUDs (Sustainable Urban Drainage)), external works, foundations, superstructure and river wall works, including decks cantilevering over the river.
The traditional, low-rise dwellings are housed in several reinforced concrete-framed multi-storey apartment blocks. The foundations throughout are piled.
Upgrading works are also being undertaken to the Trans Pennine Cycleway and we have completed and gained technical approval for the section 38 agreement for the highways and section 104 agreement for the sewers.
The development is being designed as a 'Home Zone' in line with the Department for Transport's 'Home Zones challenging the future of our streets'.
A modular cell storage system has also been installed to provide infiltration for the 1 in 30 year flood to achieve Level 3 in accordance with the 'Code for Sustainable Homes'.
