Eastwood & Partners are undertaking the civil engineering design for the project - the construction of three large storm water retention tanks are being constructed for United Utilities at Southport Waste Water Treatment Works. The 42 metre diameter tanks will be used for the temporary storage of excess storm water to a depth of 9 metres, supplementing six existing tanks.
The project forms part of a programme of environmental improvements to existing sewer overflows, that are resulting at present in Unsatisfactory Intermittent Discharges (UIDs). The tanks are supported on a total of almost 1,000 CFA (Continuous Flight Auger) piles.
