High-rise Residential Development
Eastwood & Partners were appointed as environmental, structural and drainage engineers for this development of luxury and affordable flats near Marylebone Station. The site has eight major buildings, plus a single storey leisure centre with a swimming pool. The private flats are in five curved buildings up to 11 storeys high, all with undercroft parking. These buildings all have insitu concrete frames.
In addition, there are three blocks of smaller flats built for a Housing Association. These buildings have 3-5 storeys with precast floors and load bearing masonry walls over a heavy insitu concrete transfer structure with parking beneath. There is also a 15m span underpass with a 6 storey building over.
The design required the production of 400 drawings, including some complex reinforcement details, in only 8 months. Being a former diesel train depot, the site was heavily contaminated. Eastwood & Partners designed the remediation scheme, and obtained approval for the work from the Environment Agency and City of Westminster
