Eastwood & Partners were employed by Lafarge Cement UK to design a 51,000 Tonne capacity flat storage facility for imported cement. The facility comprises three separate storage cells constructed within an existing coal storage shed.
Eastwood & Partners acted as Civil and Structural Designer, prepared tender and contract documentation, administered the contract on behalf of the Employer and acted as CDM Co-ordinator.
The three storage cells are formed by a series of 14 metre tall in-situ reinforced concrete retaining walls. The cells are filled directly from the ships and emptied using a mechanical discharge system which incorporates an aerated floor.
