Conversion of Grade II listed monastery to luxury flats
This project involves the conversion of a Grade II listed former monastery and school building into 37 luxury flats. The building is very large, with up to four floors, and a total length in the region of 150m, plus several wings up to 50m long. Eastwood & Partners carried out the structural design and liaison with English Heritage to make the alterations to the existing building as sympathetic as possible to the existing fabric.
Original timber roof trusses were strengthened with new steel tension rods and braces to safely carry the residential floor loadings in the mansard storey.
