Southport Wastewater Treatment Works
Three large storm water retention tanks are being constructed for United Utilities by North Midland Construction at Southport Wastewater Treatment Works. The tanks are 42 metres diameter and will be used for the temporary storage of excess storm water to a depth of 9 metres, supplementing six existing tanks. The project forms part of a programme of environmental improvements to existing sewer overflows, that are resulting at present in Unsatisfactory Intermittent Discharges (UIDs). The tanks are supported on a total of almost 1,000 CFA piles. E&P are undertaking the civil engineering design for the project, based on a notional design prepared by the Client.
